I have never had a dating relationship that has consisted of one person doing all the work. However I have had friendships that have consisted of one friend (Me) doing all the work to keep the friendship together. I have been in so many situations where I was respectful and honest with my "friends" only to find out that they are not willing to do the same. I have always lived with the golden rule as the foundation of my friendships and have recently been able to find a group of friends that share this very same moral standing. I believe that in order to have a healthy relationship there should be and equal amount of giving and receiving in any relationship.

I hear ya, Ty. Those kind of friendship where we are the only ones pouring into it are very tiring. I believe that the best thing to do, and what I did, is to talk with the other person and try to figure out if it is really worth to stay in the relationship.Oh! and Kudos for the golden rule as your foundation, that is awesome.
Definitely agree. I recall several instances when I would be honest with certain people with hopes of building true friendships, only to find out that they were not willing to do the same. Relationships just don't really work when they are not balanced. I don't believe that friendships are truly friendships when there is no honesty and in a sense, vulnerability on both parties.
