To my greatest knowledge, I have not had an unfair relationship whether it be family, friends, etc. I work hard to keep in touch with my family and they work hard to keep in touch with me. I put in a good effort to keep the friends I have and they return the same effort to continue staying friends with me. If a relationship feels unfair to you, confront the other person(s) and let them know how you feel.

I definitely agree that you have to confront the other person if there is any sense that the relationship is unfair, and sometimes confrontation is effective in the sense that the other person realizes how he or she is being unfair and chooses to fix the problem; however, from experience, confronting the other person doesn't always work. This is because if the other person doesn't want to be open and honest to build the relationship, he or she just won't do it. Confronting the individual may not do much because one has to choose to be honest and open for the purpose of building the relationship; it cannot be forced.
