How one portrays him/herself is greatly reflected in appearance and lifestyle. If I wanted to come off as classy and sophisticated, I would gel my hair, wear a suit, and move deliberately and carefully. If I wanted to come off as athletic, I would wear shorts, brand name shoes, and a hat or headband. Obviously, people can portray themselves in different ways, but the approach that people take in relation to others is dependent on the visual impression introduced to them. With social media websites, it makes it easier both to portray and hide “true selves” because the pictures or videos posted would be what we are comfortable with others seeing. Thanks to having constant access to others, it is much easier to acquire a wider variety of friends in a short amount of time. Some people abuse this asset and take their problems out on others who are unrelated to any personal issues. We are probably all tempted to at some point, but the “TMI boundary” is starting to break and everyone has become integrated into the problems of others that are completely insignificant.
