Some ways how I would recognize the essence of my relationship during persons of absence would be Facebook, cell phones, and Skype. Facebook is an excellent way to see people that you have not seen in a long time because you could always Facebook stalk them to see how much they have changed, what they have been up to, or simply to Facebook chat with them. Cell phones are an excellent way to get a hold of a friend because you can call or text them to catch up with, and you could hear their voice when you do call and catch up with them. Besides calling or using Facebook, Skype is an excellent way of seeing your friend on your computer. When you Skype with someone you are seeing the person and actually able to see their lips move and what they are wearing that day besides only hearing their voice or over an instant messenger. Using these simple ways are great when catching up with a friend to see what they have been doing over a long period of time.
