I can definitely see that the topic of physical appearance comes up quite often in conversations that I have with my friends, but when it does comes up, it's more of talking about our own individual styles or someone's else's style that we'd noticed. Even in talking about that, I can see how generally, the way someone dresses influences what people think about him or her, which I think is normal and somewhat appropriate because the way that someone dresses is the way that he or she expresses himself or herself. For instance, for the college population that we are all a part of, when someone consistently dresses well, he or she is generally thought of as more put together or more hardworking compared to someone who doesn't care at all about what he or she looks like. Even in studying psychology, as mentioned in the book, people who look better physically are much more favored and liked compared to others; for example, people who are physically more attractive and are better dressed are much more likely to be hired. I think in that sense, people who are better dressed are more likely to be hired because, not only do they look more presentable, they also appear to put in more effort, which may be a reflection of their work ethic.

I like the way you explain how our college population sees people. I agree, most of us think of others as intelligent, hard workers, and responsible when they dress nicely. Nonetheless, I think that after the first semester of freshman year you can really see that physical appearance has, most of the time, nothing to do with people's personality, and their aptitudes.
