Beginning in Chapter 2, the language in my table of contents becomes holds a negative connotation. The past tense of the title of Chapter 2 provides insight that we are no longer friends if you don’t read the title. Chapter 3 foreshadows that readers will learn of what happened to start the demise of the friendship and the title of Chapter 4 leads the reader to believe that a possible resolution to the demise will be provided. Chapter 5’s title makes one think that there is hope for the friendship, but Chapters 6 and 7’s titles provide closure on the thought that the friendship is over. Chapters 8 and 9 are post-friendship chapters where one learn where I stand with my friendship now. Overall, the language in the chapter titles are negative and provide some insight to the contents of the chapters, which is the purpose of the titles.
