People display affection in different ways depending on the strength of the relationship. Along with that, people display different levels of longing for loved ones when those loved ones are away. When I am far from a family member, romantic partner, or close friend I think about them almost constantly. While around other friends I tell stories of my loved ones who aren't with me then. I've been known to stay awake at night because I want to have a conversation with someone, and then they get a very random and short lived phone call at 2 a.m. Why do we think about others so often? Can the people we are around not suffice? Get back to me on that.

I believe human beings are in a constant need of affection. Some more than others, but that's just simply our nature. When we meet someone who responds with the same feelings we have for them, we feel like we need to keep receiving those feelings as some kind of feedback so we can fulfill that need or void; that's why we think about others, sometimes not necessarily on the person, but on how that person makes us feel.
Human nature: we want what we can't have.
It's so true that we display our affection depending on the strength of our relationship. Good point.
Woot woot! ;)
