Shows like MTV's Parental Control tell the viewers that some parents do not agree with who you are with and would like to attempt control in that type of relationship. Parents look at candidates for their child with personalities that they view as appealing. These personalities are usually kind hearted, adventurous, and level-headed. I think these types of personalities are appealing to Western Culture because they show that the person cares about things (like the parent's sons and daughters), likes to have fun and is open to challenges, but knows what they want out of life.
