What is wrong with public displays of affection when they are regarded as the highest and most noble form of intimacy when conducted in private? What is it about publicizing love or affection that changes its nature in the public mind? 

I believe there is a reason why intimate affection should be conducted in private; if it is regarded as one of the highest and most noble forms of intimacy, it means that is something so personal that loses its value when conducted in public. Making every detail of a relationship public on social media, for instance, such as facebook degrades the value of the relationship, in my opinion, because it makes it look like it is everybody's business to contribute to the relationship. Also, I believe that publicizing love or affection soo deeply (extreme PDA) contribute to people not taking it as seriously.
