I was really thinking about the way that society promotes sex and my views on it, when I started to think about the one thing that sex is truly about.... Love. As a Christian, we learn that sex is "making love" with your one true partner, but the world tells us it's something different. The world sells sex. How so? The next time that you go to liquor store tell me why there are half naked women on posters outside. Does this really make men think that they will get some of that after drinking the product? I don't think so. Of course it's a great view for the consumer, but I hope that sex is not the first thing that you think about when you go for a beer run.
I also started to think about how public some of these advertisements are. As I have mentioned before I have a lot of "kids". They are in the process of growing up and learning something new everyday. It surprises me more and more how much they learn outside of class. My little brother is the worst most of the time. He will tell me, uncensored, things that he hears on the playground. When I talk to some of my friends in amazement of what I hear their response is "He's a boy, that's all they think about." Sadly, I hear that advice when it comes to my own life. "Oh Becca, It's college! Go ahead and make all your mistakes now, this is the most freedom that you will get for your whole life."
Maybe society is on a downhill slant with that way that they promote things. The depressing thing is that companies have been using this method for so long that I do not think that they know how to be honest.
Here's a crazy question... What would the promoting world look like if sex was not part of it?

Few people are mature enough to understand that having fun in a hectic and free way is not what life is about. Of course is healthy to enjoy and have fun as long as we do it in a healthy way.
That is an interesting question. Americans tend to portray sex as a dirty and rebellious act which gives it an outwardly negative connotation, but deep down, almost everyone likes the underdog or rebellious approach to things, which makes the notion of sex more appealing to many people. Without sex as a promoting tool, promoters would probably turn to promote other vices in discreet ways.
