I do think we monitor ourselves when we carry out conversations out in public. At least, I know I surely do. I do not talk about the same things in private, than I do in public because the scenario is different and it is indecent to discuss some topics and ideas in a public setting. I usually censor my conversations in public in order to appear more humane and not explicit. The people who do decide to listen or overhear my public conversations have every right to do so and that is why I tend to limit myself when speaking aloud in public because you may never know who is listening. As far as a cell phone conversation goes, I also tend to censor myself when talking to friends too. I feel like, even though they may be in a private setting, I am still in public and my explicits can still be overheard by others. I just feel it's polite to do so.

I do the same. I'm cautious of what I say in public because for one, there are certain things that I just don't want other people to overhear, but also, I don't want to say anything that may offend someone who might overhear the conversation.

anyone with class will watch what they say in public and will understand that it can be detrimental if you say the wrong things
