My friends and I typically talk about trivial things because it's fun. Also because we don't necessarily want to disclose everything about ourselves all the time. Depending on the person we may have serious conversations about a variety of things going on in their life. We discuss many different things depending on the time, where we are, and other factors. Personally I don't like to talk about really certain things in my life.. Well ever.. but when I do it typically not in a public place unless I think no one around is going to be nosey. Drunk people don't mind talking loud because.. They are drunk.
