As time goes along and illnesses take over our bodies, we grow older and weaker. We wither away slowly and become small husks of who we used to be. My great grandfather is an excellent example of this. When I was young he'd run out and play tackle football with me every night. After I moved to Arkansas I saw him less and less. When I finally returned as a man he was attached to machines and couldn't remember my name. He didn't look like the same person. Just like some alien had taken his skin and wrapped it around their own body. The sight of him broke my heart. Cancer took him a year later, but I still see how time and illness changed who he was into what he became.
