It has been proven that nonverbal communication will tell you mostly (because there are exceptions to the rule) everything that you need to know about a person. You start by watching their behaviors, and observe their daily social performance. A very important aspect of that everyday perfomance is the way people dress, which gives away many aspects of our personality, how we perceive ourselves or how we want other to perceive us. The way we dress sends a complete message of how and what we are, but of course this message will change according to the occasion.
It is inevitable to notice people's looks and physique because, unconsciously, we want to make it fit into the social order. For instance, when a person goes to a job interview, they are expected to look their best. Now, it does not necessarily mean that they have to wear designer clothes and shoes, but should look neat and sharp. Look clean.
And because we want to create a good impression, it is that we worry about looking good. However, there is a time a place for everything, and one's gotta be careful on how you dress. Be appropriate, dressing up does not mean you can't be comfortable, and being comfortable doesn't mean you have to look lazy.
