     In my experience people do change in some ways between times of health and sickness they changing greater ways depending on how sick they are. For example my grandmother was more to the point during her battle with cancer, after her recovery she was more sentimental. Age does alter one's view of the world and how one acts in regards to that view. For the second part of the question regarding my grandparents change there's not a great deal of change. Besides the obvious age they for the most part stayed the same.
