Before social networks, it was very tedious to be friends with someone and keep in contact with them when they lived miles away. Now social media websites have made it easier, but, now everyone knows what they are doing and not just you. It makes communication less personal since the whole world can now listen in on your conversation. Mobile phones make things easier to communicate as well. It is more personal because it is only you and your friend talking with nobody else included, but you only hear their voice. Sure, you can tell what sort of emotion they are feeling through the sound of their voice, but it is not the same as speaking to them face-to-face in person. Mobile phones and social media websites are good for long distance communication, but face-to-face communication is best for close distance communication.
