It is amazing all the forms in which language can be used as a symbol. We regulate our voice tone and even the selection of words we use with people. Of course when I am with my parents or my friends' parents, I might not use slang words as I would when I am with my friends.We manipulate language to seem friendly, smart, angry, or happy. We  express how we feel and how we want others to think about our thoughts and feelings through language. We also talk in a way in which we can accomplish our goals. For instance, whenever we go to an interview, we have to sell ourselves to people, and we just have that one chance. We have to convince them that we are what they are looking for with what we say and do in that interview. As a communicator is very important to have a wide range of behaviors and vocabulary to manage each situation successfully.
