I think public displays of affection (PDA) is accepted in small quantities at a time. In public, I would expect to see a couple show affection to each other, but I would only expect to see them holding hands, peck on the cheek, brief kiss on the lips, or a brief hug. The keyword is BRIEF not 20 MINUTES. Once things get steamy between couples, that is when society says "no thank you, please go to a private setting." PDA can also be a strange way of telling the world "look, I am in a relationship." or "I told you guys I wasn't single." Some people take things to far when they are showing their affection to their significant other that should only be shared in a private setting where they are the only people in the room. Maybe PDA should be kept PG, or if you can't, then wait until society, especially a conservative American society, is ready to take that leap in the showings of affection. You are probably thinking "What do you mean by a 'conservative America?'" but, I don't know for sure because I am not a mind reader. What I mean by that is, America censors many things with the media ex. language on the television, pictures in the news papers, language written in magazines, etc. PDA in America is different than in other countries, like many European countries. In countries like Italy and Germany, it is natural and accepted for people to greet each other with kisses on the cheek. When I was in Germany, the newspapers showed nudity. When I went to England, no word was censored on the telly, neither was the nudity. Therefore, America is conservative in those retrospects. I think censoring this stuff makes the American society believe that such negligence on things like that makes us perceive everything related to anything censored differently. This includes PDA.
